How we use your information

This notice explains what personal information Think Big Accounting Limited collects, why, and what rights you have. We keep it short and in plain English.

What we collect, and why

Business-to-business marketing

We sometimes contact established businesses in Stockport, Manchester and Cheshire where we believe our accounting and advisory services may be relevant.

Where the details come from: publicly available business sources, mainly the business's own website and Companies House.
Who we contact: limited companies and LLPs, using contact details they publish for business enquiries. We don't send unsolicited marketing emails to sole traders or ordinary partnerships without their consent.
What we hold: the business name, company number, a published business email address, the name and role of a contact where one is published, the source, and when and why we contacted them.
Our lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely making relevant, occasional introductions to local businesses. We've assessed that this is proportionate and keeps the impact on the people involved low.
Opting out: reply "no thanks" to any email from us, or email hello@thinkbigaccounting.co.uk. We'll stop straight away and add you to our do-not-contact list. We keep that minimal record so you aren't contacted again.

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal information. We use trusted providers to run the business, and they only process information on our instructions. They include our email provider (Microsoft 365), our website host (Cloudflare) and our booking tool (Calendly). For clients, this can also include accounting software and identity-check providers named in your engagement letter. We share information with HMRC, Companies House or regulators where the law requires it.

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't become clients: up to 12 months.
B2B marketing contacts who don't respond: up to 12 months after our last contact.
Do-not-contact records: kept for as long as we market, so we can respect your choice.
Client records: as long as the law and our professional rules require. This is usually at least 5 years after the relationship ends (anti-money laundering) and up to 7 years for tax records.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, restrict or object to how we use it, or ask us to move it to someone else. You can object to direct marketing at any time, and we will always stop. To use any of these rights, email hello@thinkbigaccounting.co.uk.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
